Minoan Religion

Minoan religion, practiced by the ancient civilization on Crete from around 2600 to 1100 BCE, revolved around nature and fertility. Central to their beliefs were goddesses, often depicted as symbols of femininity, agriculture, and life. Sacred sites, like palaces and caves, hosted rituals, including ceremonies involving offerings and possibly animal sacrifices. Unlike later religions, the Minoans left no written texts, so much of what we know comes from archaeological findings. Their spiritual focus on harmony with nature and the divine influenced later Greek religious practices, laying a foundation for many Mediterranean belief systems.
