Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were a set of eight global targets established in 2000 by the United Nations to address pressing issues like poverty, education, health, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. Countries aimed to achieve these goals by 2015, with specific benchmarks to measure progress. The MDGs focused on improving living standards and reducing inequalities, encouraging international cooperation and accountability. Although they were succeeded by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015, the MDGs laid the groundwork for global efforts to enhance human well-being and promote sustainable development.
