Merkel Cell Polyomavirus

Merkel Cell Polyomavirus (MCV) is a virus that can be found on the skin of many healthy people without causing harm. However, in some cases, especially in individuals with weakened immune systems, it can contribute to the development of a rare and aggressive skin cancer called Merkel cell carcinoma.
