Tumor virus theory
The tumor virus theory suggests that certain viruses can cause cancer by infecting cells and changing their behavior. These viruses can integrate their genetic material into the host cell's DNA, disrupting normal regulation and promoting uncontrolled growth. While not all cancers are caused by viruses, there is strong evidence that some, like HPV and hepatitis B, play a direct role in tumor development. This understanding helps in developing vaccines and targeted treatments to prevent and fight virus-related cancers.
