Memory hierarchy refers to the structured arrangement of different types of computer memory, each with varying speeds and storage capacities. At the top are the fastest, most expensive memory types, like registers and cache, which store frequently accessed data for quick retrieval. Below that is the main memory (RAM), which is larger but slower. Finally, there are secondary storage options, such as hard drives and SSDs, which provide even more capacity but are much slower. This hierarchy allows computers to balance speed and cost, ensuring efficient data processing and accessibility.
