Manuel de Unamuno

Manuel de Unamuno (1864-1936) was a Spanish writer, philosopher, and educator known for his profound exploration of existential themes. He was a prominent figure in the Generation of '98, a group of intellectuals concerned with Spain's identity and moral revival following the loss of its colonial empire. Unamuno's works often grapple with questions of faith, doubt, and the human condition. His best-known writings include essays, poetry, and novels, such as "Niebla" (Mist), where he blurs the lines between reality and fiction. He also served as rector of the University of Salamanca and fervently defended academic freedom and humanistic values.
