The Mamasapano Incident occurred on January 25, 2015, in Maguindanao, Philippines, during a police operation aimed at capturing a high-profile terrorist, Zulkifli bin Hir, known as Marwan. A Special Action Force (SAF) unit engaged in a firefight with local armed groups, including the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and other factions.
