Maharaja of Satara
The Maharaja of Satara was the ruler of the Satara state in western India, which was a significant center during the Maratha Empire in the 17th and 18th centuries. After the decline of the empire, British colonial powers recognized the Maharaja's authority, but he became more of a symbolic leader. The last Maharaja was Chhatrapati Shahaji, who ruled until the state was integrated into India post-independence in 1947. Today, Satara is known for its rich history, heritage, and cultural significance within modern Maharashtra.
