Lupus band test

The Lupus band test is a laboratory test used to help diagnose lupus erythematosus, an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks healthy tissue. In this test, a sample of skin is taken and examined under a microscope for the presence of specific deposits of immune proteins and antibodies. The test looks for a “band” of these proteins at the base of the skin layer, which indicates an autoimmune response typical of lupus. It’s not a definitive test on its own but can provide valuable information when combined with other clinical assessments.
