Lombard Italy
Lombard Italy refers to the region of northern Italy that was ruled by the Lombards, a Germanic people, from the late 6th to the 8th century following the fall of the Western Roman Empire. After invading in 568 AD, they established a kingdom and blended with the local Roman population. The Lombards contributed to the political landscape, culture, and social structure of Italy during the Early Middle Ages. Their kingdom eventually fell to the Franks under Charlemagne in 774 AD, marking the transition to a more unified Frankish rule and the rise of medieval European powers.
