Localized candidiasis

Localized candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by the overgrowth of Candida, a type of yeast that normally lives in the body. It often occurs in warm, moist areas, such as the mouth (thrush), skin folds, or genitals. Symptoms can include redness, itching, and discomfort. Factors like a weakened immune system, diabetes, or antibiotic use can increase the risk. Treatment typically involves antifungal medications, and maintaining good hygiene can help prevent recurrences. While localized candidiasis is usually not serious, it can be uncomfortable and may require medical attention if symptoms persist.
