Candidiasis

Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by yeast called Candida, which normally lives in small amounts on our skin and inside our bodies without causing harm. However, when the balance is disrupted—due to factors like antibiotics, a weakened immune system, or diabetes—Candida can overgrow. This can lead to various health issues, including oral thrush, yeast infections, and skin infections. Symptoms depend on the affected area but may include itching, soreness, or abnormal discharge. Treatment usually involves antifungal medications, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help prevent future infections.
