Libyan Pharaohs
The Libyan Pharaohs refer to a dynasty of ancient Egyptian rulers of Libyan origin, who reigned during the 22nd and 23rd Dynasties, around 945 to 730 BCE. They came to power after the decline of central authority in Egypt, taking advantage of the political fragmentation. These pharaohs, originally from the Libyan tribes, contributed to Egypt’s cultural and political landscape, blending Libyan and Egyptian elements. Notable rulers include Sheshonk I, who expanded trade and military campaigns. Their reign highlighted the complex interactions between neighboring peoples and the challenges faced by Egypt during its later periods.
