Li-Fraumeni syndrome
Li-Fraumeni syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that increases the risk of developing various types of cancer, often at a young age. It is caused by mutations in the TP53 gene, which normally helps prevent damaged cells from becoming cancerous. Individuals with this syndrome may develop cancers such as breast cancer, brain tumors, leukemia, or sarcomas. Because the risk is inherited, family members may also carry the mutation. Early detection and regular screenings are essential for managing the increased cancer risk associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
