latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates
Latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates are a system used to pinpoint locations on Earth. Latitude measures how far north or south a place is from the Equator, which is at 0 degrees and runs horizontally. It ranges from 0 to 90 degrees either pole. Longitude, on the other hand, measures how far east or west a location is from the Prime Meridian (0 degrees), which runs vertically through Greenwich, England. Longitude ranges from 0 to 180 degrees east or west. Together, these coordinates create a grid that allows us to specify any location on the planet accurately.
