Land and Freedom Army
The Land and Freedom Army (Maasai: **Chama cha Uhuru wa Ardhi**) is a rebel group active in Kenya, emerging in the late 1940s. It fought against British colonial rule, advocating for land rights and independence for the Kikuyu people and other ethnic groups. The movement became significant during the Mau Mau Uprising (1952-1960), which aimed to regain land taken by European settlers. The suppression of the uprising led to violent conflict, but it ultimately contributed to Kenya gaining independence in 1963. The group is often remembered for its role in the struggle for land reform and national sovereignty.
