Mau Mau
The Mau Mau was a militant African liberation movement in the 1950s that primarily sought independence for Kenya from British colonial rule. Comprising mainly Kikuyu people, the Mau Mau engaged in guerrilla warfare, sabotage, and targeted actions against colonial authorities and settlers. Their goal was to end colonial domination, land injustice, and racial discrimination. The revolt led to a tense and often violent conflict, ultimately contributing to Kenya’s eventual independence in 1963. The movement remains a significant symbol of Kenyan resistance and struggle for self-determination.
