King of the Hejaz
The King of the Hejaz was a title held by rulers of the Hejaz region in present-day western Saudi Arabia, particularly during the early 20th century. The most notable King was Hussein bin Ali, who declared himself king after the Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule in 1916. His leadership symbolized Arab nationalism and the desire for independence. However, his reign was short-lived; in 1924, the Hejaz was absorbed into Saudi Arabia under Ibn Saud, ending Hussein's rule. The title today is of historical significance, marking the struggle for Arab autonomy and the shifting political landscape of the Middle East.
