Kicking Nightmares

Kicking Nightmares refers to the experience of suddenly waking up in a state of fear or panic, often accompanied by physical movements like kicking or thrashing. This phenomenon can occur during sleep, particularly in the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage when dreams are most vivid. It often relates to sleep disorders such as REM Behavior Disorder, where the normal paralysis of the body during dreaming is disrupted, leading to the enactment of dreams. This can result in disturbances not only for the individual but also for their sleep partners, causing anxiety and disrupted sleep patterns.
