K-type stars

K-type stars are a category of stars that are cooler and less bright than our Sun. They have a surface temperature between about 3,700 and 5,200 degrees Celsius. These stars often appear orange in color due to their lower temperature. K-type stars are known for their long lifespans, often living for billions of years, making them stable environments for potential planetary systems. They are considered excellent candidates for hosting life because their habitable zones, where conditions might allow for liquid water, are located closer to the star compared to hotter stars.
