stellar classification

Stellar classification categorizes stars based on their temperatures, sizes, and characteristics. Stars are grouped primarily into types labeled with letters: O, B, A, F, G, K, and M, from hottest to coolest. Each type is further subdivided with numbers. For example, our Sun is a G-type star (G2). This system helps astronomers understand a star's lifecycle, composition, and how they emit light. Stars also vary in brightness and mass, influencing their evolution and eventual fate, such as becoming red giants or supernovae. Understanding these classifications enhances our knowledge of the universe's structure and history.
