K-dwarf

A K-dwarf is a star that is smaller, cooler, and less bright than our Sun, but larger and hotter than most smaller stars like red dwarfs. They belong to the orange star category and have surface temperatures between about 3,900 and 5,200 degrees Celsius. K-dwarfs are stable, long-lived stars, making them interesting targets in the search for habitable planets. Because they emit less energy than the Sun, planets orbiting these stars would need to be closer to receive sufficient warmth, but their stability offers potential for sustained conditions conducive to life.
