Josephine de Beauharnais

Josephine de Beauharnais, born in 1763 in Martinique, was the first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress of the French. Initially married to a man who died during the French Revolution, she later became a key figure in Napoleon's rise to power. Known for her charm and social skills, Josephine played an influential role in the political landscape of her time. Despite their passionate relationship, their marriage ended in divorce in 1810, mainly due to issues of succession.
