John L. Holland was an American psychologist best known for his theory of career development and vocational choices. He proposed that people and work environments can be categorized into six personality types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional (often abbreviated as RIASEC). Holland believed that individuals are most satisfied and successful when their careers align with their personality types. His work has influenced career counseling and job placement strategies, helping people find fulfilling careers that match their interests and strengths.
