Jatkosota (Continuation War)
The Jatkosota, or Continuation War, was a conflict fought between Finland and the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944 during World War II. It began when Finland allied with Nazi Germany, seeking to regain territory lost in the Winter War (1939-1940). The war aimed to push back Soviet forces and expand Finnish territory. It featured intense battles and significant civilian impact. The conflict ended with an armistice in September 1944, leading to the loss of some territory and a complicated post-war relationship with the Soviet Union, while Finland maintained its independence.
