Jatkosota

Jatkosota, or the Continuation War (1941–1944), was a conflict between Finland and the Soviet Union during World War II. Finland aimed to regain territories lost to the Soviets in the Winter War (1939–1940) and allied with Nazi Germany to do so. The war involved Finnish forces launching offensives into Soviet territory, resulting in territorial exchanges and battles on the Eastern Front. Despite military cooperation with Germany, Finland maintained a separate peace and sought to defend its independence. Jatkosota is significant for its complex political and military dynamics, reflecting Finland’s efforts to secure its sovereignty during a turbulent period.
