Lapland War

The Lapland War (1944–1945) was fought between Finland and Nazi Germany in northern Finland during World War II. After Finland signed an armistice with the Allies, Germany aimed to withdraw its forces from Finland, but the Finnish government ordered their expulsion to prevent German control over territory and resources. The Germans resisted, resulting in intense battles across Lapland. The war caused significant destruction to towns and landscapes. Ultimately, Finnish forces pushed the Germans out, ending the conflict. The war marked a complex chapter in Finnish history, balancing agreements with both Axis and Allied powers during a turbulent period.
