Janus Kinase

Janus Kinase (JAK) refers to a family of enzymes that play a crucial role in cell signaling, specifically in how cells respond to various messages, such as hormones and growth factors. By helping transmit signals from the cell surface to its interior, JAKs influence processes like inflammation, immune responses, and blood cell production. Because of their significant role in these processes, JAK inhibitors have emerged as treatments for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and certain cancers, by blocking these enzymes and thus reducing inflammation and abnormal cell growth.
