tofacitinib

Tofacitinib is a medication used to treat autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis by suppressing the immune system's overactivity. It works by blocking specific enzymes, called Janus kinases (JAKs), which are involved in the process of inflammation. By inhibiting these enzymes, tofacitinib reduces inflammation and helps prevent joint damage. It is typically prescribed when other treatments haven't been effective. While it can be effective in managing symptoms, it also may increase the risk of infections and other side effects, so close medical monitoring is necessary during use.
