Indian royal families

Indian royal families, known as "zamindars" or "nawabs," were historically powerful dynasties that ruled various regions before India gained independence in 1947. They often held significant land and wealth, playing crucial roles in local governance, culture, and economy. Many were patrons of the arts and architecture, leaving a rich legacy of palaces, temples, and traditions. Although India is now a republic, some royal families still hold cultural prominence and engage in social activities. They may retain titles, but their formal power is largely symbolic in modern India.
