Hydatidiform Mole

A Hydatidiform Mole, also known as a molar pregnancy, is an abnormal growth of tissue that occurs in the uterus instead of a normal embryo. It results from an error during fertilization, leading to the formation of a mass of cysts. There are two types: complete, where there is no embryo, and partial, where an abnormal embryo may be present. Symptoms can include unusual bleeding, enlarged uterus, and severe nausea. Treatment typically involves surgical removal of the mole to prevent complications, as it can increase the risk of certain cancers later on. Regular follow-up is important for monitoring.
