Hybrid Seed Production

Hybrid seed production is a process where two different plant varieties are crossed to create seeds that produce plants with desirable traits, such as higher yields, disease resistance, or better adaptability. Farmers or scientists carefully select parent plants and cross-pollinate them, resulting in hybrid seeds. These seeds often produce stronger and more productive plants than non-hybrid varieties, benefiting agriculture by improving food supply. However, hybrid seeds typically do not breed true, meaning the seeds from hybrid plants may not have the same qualities as the parent plants, requiring farmers to buy new seeds each season.
