The House of Habsburg was a prominent European royal family that played a significant role in politics, culture, and power from the late Middle Ages to the early 20th century. Originating in Switzerland, they became rulers of vast territories, including the Holy Roman Empire, Austria, and Spain. The Habsburgs are known for their strategic marriages, which helped expand their influence across Europe. Their motto, "Bella gerant alii, tu felix Austria nube" ("Let others wage war, you, happy Austria, marry"), reflects their alliance-building through marriage. The dynasty ended in 1918 with the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
