Holkar State

Holkar State was a prominent princely state in India during the British Raj, established by the Holkar dynasty in the late 18th century. Centered around the city of Indore in present-day Madhya Pradesh, it was known for its economic and cultural development. The last Maharaja, Yashwant Rao Holkar, played a significant role in the state's administration and during India's struggle for independence. Holkar State was recognized for its progressive policies, including education and infrastructure. After India gained independence in 1947, it merged into the Indian Union, becoming part of the larger democratic framework of the country.
