Historicism

Historicism is a concept in philosophy that suggests the social and cultural phenomena are determined by history. It posits that history follows a certain pattern or course, and people's ideas and values are shaped largely by their historical context. This means each period in history is unique and can't fully be understood without considering the time, place, and culture of that period. So, to truly understand something, we should look at its history and how it developed over time.
