Herri Batasuna
Herri Batasuna was a Basque political organization in Spain that advocated for Basque independence and greater autonomy. Founded in 1978, it aimed to represent Basque nationalist interests through political means, promoting cultural identity and self-determination. However, it was closely associated with the separatist movement and alleged links to the terrorist group ETA, which used violence to pursue independence. Due to these associations and legal bans, Herri Batasuna was eventually dissolved in 2003. Its legacy remains complex, reflecting ongoing debates about nationalism, political activism, and the use of violence in pursuit of political goals.
