Harris Matrix

The Harris Matrix is a systematic way to document and understand the relationship between layers of archaeological findings. It uses a series of boxes and lines to visually represent how different layers of soil or artifacts interact and overlap over time. Each box corresponds to a layer or feature, while the lines show which layers were deposited before or after others. This helps archaeologists piece together the sequence of human activity and natural processes at a site, allowing us to better interpret the history and context of discoveries made during excavations.
