Halley's Comet

Halley's Comet is a famous periodic comet that orbits the Sun approximately every 76 years. Named after the astronomer Edmond Halley, who calculated its return in the 18th century, it’s visible from Earth with the naked eye. Halley’s Comet last appeared in 1986 and will return around 2061. Its bright tail, seen when it approaches the Sun, is formed by gases and dust that are released as the comet heats up. The comet has been observed for over 2,000 years, making it one of the most studied celestial objects in history.
