Solar System
The Solar System consists of the Sun, a massive star that provides light and warmth, along with everything that orbits it. These include eight planets—from rocky ones like Earth and Mars to gas giants like Jupiter and Neptune—as well as moons, dwarf planets, asteroids, and comets. These objects are held in orbit by the Sun's gravity, forming a dynamic, interconnected system. The Solar System spans billions of miles, with planets following specific paths called orbits. It originated about 4.6 billion years ago from a swirling cloud of gas and dust that collapsed under gravity.
