Guru Nanak Dev

Guru Nanak Dev, born in 1469 in present-day Pakistan, is the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. He emphasized the oneness of God, equality among all people, and the importance of compassion and selfless service. Guru Nanak rejected rituals and superstitions, promoting a direct relationship with the divine through meditation and honest living. His teachings are compiled in the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism. Key principles include Naam Japna (remembering God), Kirat Karni (earning honestly), and Vand Chakna (sharing with others), which guide Sikhs in their spiritual and everyday lives.
