Green sand casting
Green sand casting is a metalworking process used to create metal parts by shaping liquid metal in molds made from sand. The "green" refers to the moisture in the sand mixture, which typically consists of sand, clay, and water. The sand is compacted around a pattern (the shape of the desired part) to form a mold. Once the mold is ready, molten metal is poured in, allowed to cool, and then the mold is broken away to reveal the finished part. This method is popular due to its cost-effectiveness and versatility in producing various shapes and sizes.
