Golan Heights

The Golan Heights is a strategic plateau located in southwestern Syria, bordering Israel. It covers about 1,200 square kilometers and offers important military and water resources. Israel captured the Golan Heights during the 1967 Six-Day War and later annexed it in 1981, a move not widely recognized internationally.
