Ghorid Dynasty

The Ghorid Dynasty was a medieval Islamic dynasty that ruled parts of modern-day Afghanistan and northern India from the 12th to the 13th centuries. Founded by the Ghurid family, it became notable for expanding its territory and influence through military conquests. The Ghorids were instrumental in the spread of Islam in the Indian subcontinent, especially during their campaigns against the declining Gupta Empire and the Rajput states. Their most famous ruler, Muhammad Ghori, conquered northern India, paving the way for the establishment of the Delhi Sultanate. The dynasty eventually declined due to internal strife and external invasions.
