Genome

A genome is the complete set of genetic material in an organism, encompassing all its DNA, including genes and non-coding sequences. It carries the instructions for growth, development, and functioning, much like a blueprint for building and operating a living being. Each organism has a unique genome, which contributes to its traits and characteristics. For humans, the genome consists of over 3 billion DNA base pairs, organized into 23 pairs of chromosomes. Understanding genomes is key in fields like biology, medicine, and genetics, as it helps us comprehend how traits are inherited and how diseases develop.
