Gastrinoma

Gastrinoma is a rare type of tumor that usually occurs in the pancreas or the first part of the small intestine. It secretes an excessive amount of a hormone called gastrin, which stimulates the stomach to produce more acid. This can lead to serious digestive issues, such as ulcers, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Gastrinomas are sometimes part of a genetic condition known Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 1 (MEN 1). Diagnosis often involves blood tests and imaging studies, and treatment may include surgery, medications, or chemotherapy, depending on whether the tumor is localized or has spread.
