Freudian Slip
A Freudian slip, often called a "slip of the tongue," refers to an unintentional error in speech or writing that reveals an individual's subconscious thoughts, feelings, or desires. Named after psychologist Sigmund Freud, who believed that these slips expose hidden conflicts or motivations, they can occur when someone mistakenly uses a word or phrase instead of what they intended. For example, if someone accidentally calls their partner by an ex's name, it might indicate unresolved feelings. Freudian slips highlight how our subconscious can influence our behavior and communication.
