Freezing

Freezing is a physiological response where an individual becomes temporarily immobile or unable to react, often occurring during moments of extreme fear or stress. This reaction is part of the body’s fight-or-flight response, allowing a person to assess danger. In some contexts, like psychology, freezing can be a coping mechanism to deal with overwhelming situations. It can manifest physically as a person standing still, holding their breath, or feeling paralyzed by fear. While it is a natural response, frequent episodes may indicate underlying issues, such as anxiety or trauma.
