liquid nitrogen
Liquid nitrogen is nitrogen gas cooled to extremely low temperatures, turning it into a colorless, odorless liquid. It is about -196°C (-321°F), making it much colder than, for example, dry ice. Because of its rapid evaporation at room temperature, it creates a dense fog of cold vapor. Liquid nitrogen is used in various applications such as medical cryopreservation, cryogenic research, and quick-freezing foods. It safely evaporates into nitrogen gas, which makes up most of our atmosphere, leaving no residue. Its extremely low temperature allows it to freeze and preserve biological materials or induce controlled freezing in industrial and medical processes.
