Francesco I de' Medici

Francesco I de' Medici (1541–1587) was the Grand Duke of Tuscany, ascending to power in 1574 after the death of his father, Cosimo I. He was known for supporting the arts and sciences, continuing the Medici family's legacy of patronage. Francesco's reign was marked by political alliances and cultural advancements, fostering the flourishing of the Italian Renaissance. His marriage to Joanna of Austria strengthened ties with the Habsburgs.
