Fibula

The fibula is the smaller of the two bones in your lower leg, located on the outside of your leg, parallel to the larger shinbone (tibia). It provides stability to your ankle and supports muscles of the lower leg. Although it bears less weight than the tibia, the fibula plays an important role in ankle movement and ligament attachment. It extends from just below the knee down to the outer part of your ankle. The fibula is essential for proper leg function, strength, and mobility, and can be fractured or injured in leg traumas.
